  1. Did anyone else find it interesting how the advertisement of cigarettes has completely changed?

    1. I think that is because we have figured it out that it doesn't make you cool to smoke anymore so they had to change tack ticks to sell them.

    2. I think that it is very interesting how cigarette ads have changed. I do agree with Jacob G that they ahve probably changed due to the fact that most pople no longer think that smoking is "cool."

  2. Is it just me, or do these older ads use just as much or more sex appeal??

    1. Agreed! I wouldnt say more sex appeal, just because they wore more modest clothes in the olden days. But advertisements today are very similar to how they were in the past.

    2. I agree as well! It is interesting to see how the ads are just like how they are today but with more modern art added. Like K Fullmer suggested, maybe not as much sex appeal as there is today because the generation is different as to what is acceptable and what is not.

    1. I agree with you that advertisements in the olden days are just as bad as the ones out today because they all tend to use the same appeals. They can also be different because the generation has changed so different the avertisments and their stragies have to change to appeal the primary audience. I think it is becoming more acceptable for these kind of advertisements to be seen everywhere to all audiences because of the way this generation is.

    2. The ads today are more provocative in a way. If you look back at the Victoria's Secret commercials when they first began, to the present day commercials, they show more skin and more sex appeal.

  4. People remember this era as one in which smoking was considered glamorous, even romantic. Explains why in these years the Camel & Lucky Strike accounted for more than 80 percent off cigarette sales!

  5. I think that the advertisements shown here incorporate more of the 15 basic appeals than adds that we see on the television toady. These advertisements get straight to the point and are very well made.

  6. I think the main idea of all these advertisements follows the same single idea that all the people in these ads look so happy that to be happy like them you have to have that product. I think ads nowadays follow this idea still and there isn't so much of a need for advertisers to utilize 15 appeal categories when all of those appeals shoot towards the same image of whatever you're doing is "OK".

  7. I think the main point of all advertisements is to make whatever the product is look extremely pleasing by making the actors protray a false sense of happiness.

  9. I think it is funny how each ad makes you think just a little about something. There are always hot appeals that will grab our attention and they will continue to find why to get us to look at their product.
